The base follows the 2nd Movie Dalek base - this is the bit the wheelchair will go in the middle of.
First, cut out the base shape according to the specifications
Cut out the inside of the base to get the shape. The wheelchair would end up in the hole :)
Build up the base sides using blocks
As part of building the base up, Freek tests out whether the operator will get in, assuming that the person body is in the skirt of the dalek, the shoulders in the 'shoulders' and the head in the neck bin - also, this is a good test because the skirt height might need to alter :)
Time to get that curve in place for the base. Start first by marking up the base, followed by the use of making up a 41mm stencil
2 and a half hours later with absolutely tons of sanding, the results are clear and check out the dust!!
Looking great! All done and ready for the skirt construction. Check out the chamfer on it, Darik is going to look awesome!
The base is then attached to the skirt - check out the skirt page for more information since that is where the rubber liner is added to the bottom of the base.
