Darik the Dalek has a claw, not a 'sink plunger'. This I thought looks very cool, the only issue is how to make it, as it would require an extendable arm, a claw and a way to ensure the extenable arm 'works'.
Build the Claw - MDF here I come... Connecting three tubes inside each other with the inner connected to a long piece of garden hose to allow the extension.
Next, using the 'art of the rivet', ensure the end of the pipe section is sealed so there's no way the hose extender mechanism can 'pop out'
Several coats of wood and metal primer follow
All good - Just need to get the shoulders fully done so the final connection to the shoulder section can be done, and then apply final silver 'gun battle' paint to the claw. Ensured there was a bracket on the end of the pipe (you'll see this on the hose). This allows the gun to be securely connected to the back of the gun mount.
Ok, so wasn't exactly happy with the claw. Noticed in the movies that the claw was operational - meaning it opened and closed. Determined to make sure my dalek claw could do just that! First, dismantel the claw again...
Ok, looks pretty naff as a starter-for-ten... Ok, lets redo the claw (thanks Alistair and crew for the welding and the claw pin mechanism)
Next, add a push button mechanism that attach at the back using springs
Re-prime the claw - wait till dry then re-sand, then on with the chrome!
Time for a chrome spray - again, wanted the battle look!
